What's Your Warranty Really Worth?

It's hard enough to choose a good contractor, are they priced fairly, do I want them to be in my house, do they know what their doing. Those are all questions we ask ourselves before working with a company. Well unfortunatly there is a new item that it's worth looking into before hiring a contractor, and that is their warranty.

Most contractors will offer some sort of warranty on the service they provide. If they don't, you might want to reconsider doing business with them, because no matter how experienced or careful they are, no plumber or mechanic is above making unavoidable mistakes or falling victim to product failure.

Another thing to check out is how long has that company been around and how long has the warranty been in exsistance. I have several companies call me everyone month requesting service on a recently installed product. When I ask them if they've contacted the original contractor they tell me that the phone number no longer works, or the company is no longer around. What good is a warranty if the company is gone or solo-lone-wolf contractor might have a different phone number in 2 years?

A good warranty helps protect you in the event that something does fail.
